Five reasons your senior team still can’t run the business without you

Say you’ve hired a senior team.

Good people. Fully capable on paper.

And somehow everything still comes back to you.

It’s not because they’re lazy; if that was the case you wouldn’t have hired them. They’ve actually just figured something out:

If they wait long enough, you’ll fix it.

So they stop finishing things. They start sending you work that’s almost there, because almost there is safe.

Finished work is risky when the founder might redo it anyway.

And that’s just one of the five ways you’ve become the bottleneck without meaning to. None of it is a mindset problem. The system is rewarding exactly this behaviour.

In my latest video, I go through all five (and what to change for each one):

  • Why every decision landing on your desk isn’t an authority problem (and the one-page fix that sorts it out)
  • The quality control trap that creates people who wait
  • Why your calendar is probably the real operating system in the business (and what to do about it)
  • The knowledge sat in your head that a buyer will find and price down
  • The fifth bottleneck. The one most founders don’t see until their best person hands in their notice

Crossing off all five of these guarantees you weeks of time in return.
